Red Shoe Awards – 2017

On Wednesday, April 19, we were honored to attend the first annual Red Shoe Awards, hosted by the Greater Hudson Valley Ronald McDonald House. It was an uplifting and emotional experience, as we heard the stories of the wonderful men and women who help keep the House’s doors open, and allow it to fill such a vital need for families of seriously ill children. We also heard from some of the families who stayed at the house while their child was hospitalized. Susan, our Board President, spoke on behalf of our family, and told the guests how important the Ronald McDonald House was for us during those weeks and months Jen was in treatment.

We learned that it costs about $2000 a day to keep the House operating, and at least $150 to provide a room for a family for a single night. The House asks each family for only tenth of that, $15 a night, and half the time the guests cannot afford even that modest amount. Yet no family is turned away for an inability to pay. You can learn more about this wonderful organization here.

The Jennie Foundation pleased to support the Greater Hudson Valley Ronald McDonald House through direct donations to offset the guest portion of a stay, and also through the Meal Program, which provides a home cooked meal to guest families. Our support is only possible because of your generosity. Thank you for all you do to support The Jennie Foundation!
