This month’s Jennie Day marked two years since we lost Jen. As we did last July, this month’s meal had a Summer BBQ theme. We cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on the Ronald McDonald House grill, with cheese, lettuce, sliced tomato, pickles, and onions, along with rosemary roasted potatoes (one of Joy’s many specialties), with homemade sour cream pound cake for dessert, also expertly baked by Joy, from my mother’s original recipe.
This month also featured the beginning of a new Jennie Foundation fundraising initiative, which was suggested by Jen’s (and my) cousin Barbara Smith. We are now offering for donors the opportunity to sponsor our monthly meal for the Ronald McDonald House, and Maria Ferari Children’s Hospital PICU and oncology wards.
