Jennie Day December 2017 and Fundraising Update

This December’s Jennie Day was sponsored by Jennie’s aunt and uncle, Denise and Steve LePera.  The meal featured Maple Glazed Baked Ham, Green Bean Casserole, homemade Macaroni and Cheese, and homemade pizzelles (for the Ronald McDonald House) and chocolate chip cookies (for the hospital) for dessert.  Thank you, Uncle Steve and Aunt Denise for sponsoring the December meal!  We were told the hospital floors had a particularly hectic day, and the staff truly appreciated the meal.  We were also able to sponsor a 20-day stay for a family at the House, thanks to the generosity of our donors.  Our family’s first stay at the House was just around Christmastime in 2014, as Jen was recovering from her bone marrow transplant.  We had only intended to stay for a couple of days, but found the facilities and help from the House to be invaluable.  It remains so for the families who stay there today, and your donations allow us to continue to supporting this vital resource.  Thank You!

In other news, we held a gift wrapping fundraiser at the Barnes and Noble store in Poughkeepsie, NY on November 28.  We had great support from neighborhood volunteers throughout the day, wrapped gifts, collected donations, and educated many of Barnes and Noble’s customers about the work the Foundation does on behalf of families of children suffering serious illness.

Finally, as the Christmas Shopping season winds down, we’d like to remind you to use our Amazon Smile link, https://smile.amazon.com/ch/81-2556793, when you do any online shopping at amazon.com.  The Amazon Smile Foundation will donate a portion of your purchase to The Jennie Foundation!

On behalf of our Board, we would like to sincerely thank all those who supported our efforts throughout the year.  Nothing we do would be possible without your contributions.  We wish you a happy holiday season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
