Donation from RCK Italian National Honor Society

The Foundation recently received a very generous donation from the Italian National Honor Society of Roy C. Ketcham High School, where Jen graduated in June 2015.  The donation was accompanied by a letter from Victoria DeSorrento, RCK’s INHS Faculty advisor, which we would like to share:

My name is Victoria DeSorrento.  Jennie was one of my students; she was a force to be reckoned with, a free spirit with an adoration for life, and a spark for anyone she came in contact with.  She is missed still.

I am the advisor for the Italian National Honor Society at Roy C. Ketcham High School as well as one of the Italian teachers there.  Every year, as a means to give back to our community, we plan events that allow us to raise money for various charities and local organizations.  Our student members are asked to research and share the the names of organizations they would like to see receive the fruits of their labors.  This year one of the students came to us with the name of The Jennie Foundation, and many fellow members readily agreed to send a donation to this wonderful organization.  We are sending a donation from the Italian National Honor Society of Roy C. Ketcham High School, Giovanni Da Verrazzano Chapter.

The Jennie Foundation is an inspiration to us.  Thank you for all you do to ensure families have what they need in such difficult times.

Ms. DeSorrento, I can tell you as Jen’s family, we were all deeply moved by your beautiful letter and your Society’s very generous gift to the Foundation.  It is also fitting as Jen was a descendant from family who generations ago made the trip from Italy to find a new life and prosperity in America.  We thank you and your students for remembering Jen in this special way, and for allowing us to continue to do good in her name.
