The March Jennie Day meal featured Lasagna and Meatballs, with garlic knots, and homemade pound and marble cakes for dessert. As an added bonus, Dutchess County Girl Scout Troop 10013 donated homemade cupcakes, that were expertly baked and decorated by members of the troop. We would like to thank Vitacco Associates for their generous sponsorship of the March meal, and also extend our thanks to Troop 10013 for their thoughtful contribution!
We still need sponsors to fill out our 2019 Meal calendar. If you would like to consider sponsoring a meal for 2019, please go to https://a.jenniefoundation.org/meal-sponsorship/ for more information and to signup.
In addition to the monthly meal, the Foundation sponsored 20-day stays at both the Greater Hudson Valley and Philadelphia Ronald McDonald houses. We were also able to provide various house supplies and snacks for the Greater Hudson Valley House, as well as gas and grocery gift cards, along with 33 sets of infant/preemie clothing for the Maria Fareri Childrens Hospital.
We have also received word that the first two 2019 Jennie Foundation Scholarships have been awarded to Melanie Lazaros and McKenzie Malcom, both from John Jay High School in Hopewell Junction, NY.
Finally, we received a note from Laura Van Tassell, who is the Giving Manager at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. We’d like to share a portion of that letter with you:
I wanted to send you a quick email to share with you that we recently used some of the Amazon gift cards that Jennie’s Foundation contributed to help a family purchase a new stroller.
This family has been with us for a number of months so far. They were actually the first family to move into one of the patient-protected suites in the new Miller Tower at the beginning of February. If you have access to watch a 6 min video on Facebook you can see their reactions as they arrived, https://www.facebook.com/philarmh/videos/597176034076792/ . This mother certainly has her hands full. Her son is receiving cancer treatments at CHOP and she actually gave birth in December to her daughter a few weeks earlier than expected. Mom, baby, and son are doing well currently and are very grateful for your support.
Thank you for supporting families like this one.
Take care,
Laura
We are certainly honored to be able to help families of children with serious illnesses. We are thankful every day for the support we receive from you, support that allows us to keep Jen’s memory and spirit alive by doing good in her name.
